Stoberry Farm the Cattery
Stoberry Farm's mission is to ensure your cat's safety and wellbeing is maintained while they can't be home with you. Please read the following to find out what we need and how you can help.
Vaccinations
We pride ourselves on having clean and hygienic Studio Rooms. However your cat's health is of utmost importance, so we request that vaccinations be current for the duration of the stay. Vaccinations must not have been given within eight days of arrival for kittens, and 14 days of arrival for cats in order for the immunity to be established. Please bring your cat's vaccination book with you or send in a scan/copy of the record via email.
It is requested that cats be up to date with worm treatment. If a cat is found to have worms, they will be given a broad spectrum worm tablet and this will be charged accordingly.
Medication
Please inform us of your cat's medical history and bring your cat's medication and dosage instructions with you. At Stoberry Farm, there is no additional charge for cats on oral medication only.
Food
Food is included in the boarding rate and we endeavour to provide your cat's usual food. Having their usual food reassures your cat by having the familiar taste and texture, and it also helps avoid potential stomach upsets. If your cat is on a special (prescription) diet, please let us know and you will need to bring a supply with you.
Something familiar
If your cat has a blanket, bed, or a favourite toy, please bring them in. The familiarity and scent of them will help them to feel more settled (so there is no need to freshly launder it unless in an unreasonable condition). If your cat doesn't have a special blanket, you may wish to bring in a towel or old jersey that has the familiar smells of home on it. If your cat needs brushing, please bring in their brush or comb.
Familiarisation visit
If you wish, your cat can come for a day or overnight stay as a familiarisation visit, prior to a long-stay period. This will allow your cat to become acquainted with us and their Studio Room, which can help reduce anxiety and promote settling for the longer stay. There is no charge for a familiarisation visit for cats who have a confirmed long-stay booking (21 days or more).
Veterinary attention
We take utmost care to ensure your cat's health and safety while in our care. In the unlikely event your cat needs veterinary treament, we will endeavour to have your cat seen by veterinarians at your usual Wanaka clinic. Should we feel it necessary to seek veterinary attention, any expenses incurred will be responsibility of the owner.
Inspections welcome
You are welcome to visit our cattery! Please make an appointment to ensure we have time to show you around and answer any questions.
Hours
We aim to be flexible with our check in and check out hours, however as Stoberry Farm is a small, family business, we thank you for understanding that we need to also work around other committments. Please make an appointment for a check in and check out time.
Monday to Friday: By arrangement, between 0930 hrs and 1730 hrs.
Saturday, Sunday: By arrangement, between 1000 hrs and 1730 hrs.
Public Holidays: Closed for check in/out (except where the holiday is a second consecutive day, then by arrangement as per weekend hours).
Checking in
Please bring your cat in a secure carrier and allow enough time to check your cat in. We recommend allowing a minimum of 10 minutes. This gives us time to fill in or go over the information you provide on the Booking Sheet and settle your cat into their Studio. If you are able to allow yourself time and not be rushed, this will benefit your cat also. We know this can be tricky! So please don't stress.
